VOCABULARY OF THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM

CRAVED: Had a strong desire.
GROPED: Moved hands to feel for something that can´t see.
WRITHED: Twisted and turned in pain.
damp : a bit wet
gasped : caught one's breath to show surprise or horror
